The transition from the Pilot Records Improvement Act (PRIA) to the FAA Pilot Records Database (PRD) has now completed its final phase. What does this mean for operators?
As stated in the FAA’s Final Rule, On September 9, 2024, ALL historical records dating before January 1, 2015, must be reported to the PRD and "concurrent compliance with the requirements of the Pilot Records Improvement Act will end."
Operators were required to report to the PRD by June 12, 2023, all historical records "that date on or after January 1, 2015."
Furthermore, in March 2023, the FAA published a Pilot Records Database Compliance Oversight Notice. Operators are encouraged to read this notice, which "provides standardized surveillance, compliance, and enforcement criteria for aviation safety inspectors (ASI) to perform oversight of the regulatory requirements of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) Part 111. Pilot Records Database. This notice will ensure the required entities are inspected and findings of noncompliance are addressed in a consistent manner."
