To access nuclear power plants, federal facilities and airports that are federally regulated after October 1, 2021, you must have identification that is compliant with the REAL ID Act. To date, 62 percent of Americans have not yet obtained a REAL ID-compliant identification card or driver’s license, but the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reports you can now obtain one, regardless of the state you live in.
